Welcome to our first use case segment in which we bring stories from our clients, their user experience and work.

Today we introduce you to Roberto Puente - a web developer, product designer, video editor and much more. Roberto's passion is to help small e-learning creators grow, reach a wider audience and create engaging content that is protected against unathorized distribution. This dedication to content protection led him to Kinescope.

Meet Roberto Puente

I am originally from Venezuela but have been living in Barcelona for the last 5 years. As a person who is dopamine-driven, I like to follow my  passions and thrive to create different digital work in marketing, web design and video production.

Why did you decide to create your business?

During the last year I’ve combined my passion for web design, editing and content creation with helping other creators reach their goals and better monetize their work. For me working with smaller creators has been an extremely rewarding experience.

The services my business - robertopuentec.com provides include various post production help including editing and producing video courses, podcasts, advertisements for search engines, web development, content design.

The clients I work with mostly create content in Spanish and come from different branches. One of my latest clients creates nutritional videos for example.

How important are videos for your business?

For me personally and professionally videos are extremely important. As a content creator myself I’ve been observing the constant influence videos have in social media, entertainment, education.

Many of my clients create videos as part of their business strategies - from video advertisements to courses. Video is key.

And an important aspect plays privacy - the content to be protected against unrequested distribution online. It is not a major requirement for me only - it is essential for many of my clients’ work as well.

Meeting Kinescope

How did you first hear about Kinescope?

I met Derren, Kinescope’s Managing Director, on Lunchclub (a networking platform where professionals from different spheres meet and have 1:1 talks).

We quickly bonded over our shared passion for video games. I told Derren I was a content creator and was just launching a nutrition course for a client of mine. The topic quickly changed to video privacy - I expressed my concern that most video platforms don’t offer content protection. Unknowingly to me I was speaking with someone who turned out to have a lot of experience with content privacy. Derren told me about Kinescope and that they use DRM encryption. I was intrigued and decided to test it out.

What made you choose Kinescope?

I’ve used different video hosting platforms like Vimeo and YouTube before but I didn’t like that it was quite easy to just download someone else’s video and re-distribute it online or that pricing plans were constantly changing. For me it was also important for the video platform to be easy to use both for people with and without technical knowledge since my clients come from various fields.

What grabbed my interest in Kinescope beside the DRM protection, are the other privacy settings like private link sharing and password protection, as well as the pay-as-you-go method - it is a fair pricing and you always know what to expect, no hidden costs. The dashboard is very intuitive and easy to use. I also enjoy the player customization options - it comes handy when you want to attach a logo or change the colors according to your preferences.

The process

How easy was the onboarding process on Kinescope?
From the get-go the process has been very smooth: neither me nor any client has had any problem working with the platform.
For most of my clients I usually create an account and upload their videos. Afterwards they distribute the content among their viewers, manage the account, and change the appearance of the player. It is easy to navigate around the dashboard and find the features you are looking for.

Were your expectations met? What was the experience of your clients and their viewers?
There is a popular saying by Jared Spool that goes: “Good design, when it's done well, becomes invisible. It's only when it's done poorly that we notice it”.
I think this quote well describes my experience with Kinescope.

I recommend Kinescope to my clients because I believe it creates many opportunities for content creators - to protect their content, optimize the viewing experience and to overall accelerate growth.

Results

How many videos were uploaded on Kinescope from you and your clients?
So far I have uploaded 22 videos with more than 100 GB of traffic (most in HD and 4K) just for my client who launched a nutrition course.

The videos in the course have more than 200 students and a total watch time of 31 896 minutes with 52% view rate since the course was launched in May 2022.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
